Samsung Galaxy M40 Review

Samsung launched its Premium Midrange smartphone Named Galaxy M40. Samsung Galaxy M40 was released in India on June 20, 2019. Galaxy M40 is priced at 19,990 @ 6GB + 128 GB Variant.

Samsung released Galaxy M40 in only one model. when I’m using Galaxy M40 I felt it is okish Feel in the hand due to plastic Back and aluminium build quality and had a Triple Camera Setup and features a Full HD+ PLS TFT screen. but is also has the DNA of Elder Brother and Galaxy M30.

it features the Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm named SD 675 which is available on Redmi Note 7 Pro. this chip is made of 14nm LPP (Low Power Plus) FinFet process. this processor is divided into 2 parts; the first part features 6 x Kryo 460 low power cores which are clocked at 1.8GHz, second part features 2 x Kryo 460 high powered cores which are clocked at 2.0GHz. it has Adreno 612 GPU which increases its work by 20% compared to SD 660 the last processor from Qualcomm it has an X12 Modem which has Download and Uploads speeds of 600 & 150MBPS. it does not have integrated Ai built in the processor. For Ai, manufacturers are using Software Optimizations which helps in AI Capabilities.

this phone has a Triple Camera setup which comprises a 32MP primary sensor + 8MP Ultra Wide Sensor + 5MP Depth sensor which makes the user take normal, ultraWide and portrait images.

I will divide the review into pros & cons. let’s see quick specs of

Review:

5.84” Full HD+ IPS LCD screen :

Here in the Display Department, Samsung Galaxy M40 Features an Excellent FHD+ PLS LCD panel Punch Hole screen with 409 pixels per inch, the colours are vibrant and enjoyable, viewing angles are also good. There are No issues & problems with screen quality. It is bright to see in direct sunlight.

Single Speaker and Headphone Jack:

In Galaxy M40 Samsung Used their Single Speaker System with Dolby Atmos technology which were is very loud and Equal to their Galaxy M40 Smartphone. These speakers are supported by Dolby Atmos Sound technology which helps to get clear sound output from the mobile speaker. Here earpiece provides a louder sound which is useful Calls in Noisy Conditions.

Coming to Headphone jack and earphones, the headphone jack provided with a punchy and clear sound with the support of Dolby Atmos support. The headphones are present in the Box, And they are good for listening to music and for taking voice calls.

Build Quality : 

Samsung Galaxy M40 is Build with a Plastic frame on the side and front the device is protected with Corning Gorilla glass 5 and Back of the device is Protected By Plastic Back. it provides an Average look and feels Cheap Because it is made with Plastic body and Plastic Back. Though Samsung Galaxy M40 was Build with Plastic frame and Plastic Back. there are no issues of creakiness with the build quality and appearance well built and the bezels are shrunk down to place a 6.3” PLS TFT screen.

Rear fingerprint scanner: 

Samsung Galaxy M40 Features a Rear fingerprint sensor which is present on the top back of the phone. By performance, it is fast and very accurate to recognize the fingerprint of the user.

Face unlocking:

Samsung Galaxy M40 has face unlock feature. It works Nice in Normal Conditions Very Quickly and And Securely but in Night Conditions it will work 50% Screen brightness to recognize the user. 

Weight balance: 

Samsung Galaxy M40 feels very light with 6.3” Screen and 3500 mAh battery equipped. This Samsung Galaxy M40 can be used in one hand. The weight balance is done very well on the device.

Battery life:

My Samsung Galaxy M40 lasted a Full Working day with heavy usage, and at the end of the day, I had 15% of charge left in the phone which is good for a 3500 mAH Battery. We got 5 Hours of Sot( Screen on time) on using Mobile data which is good. You will get above 5.5hr Battery life if you use on WiFi. The ideal drain of Galaxy M40 is very low as Galaxy M30. The 15W Quick charging makes a difference and charges the phone in 90 min which is a bit good. Samsung Galaxy M40 has a 15W charger in Box which is good, and it is a plus point.


One UI Operating System :

One UI present on the Galaxy M40 is very fast & so fluid, No lags were noticed. it comes with less bloatware majorly Samsung And Microsoft apps were included. There are some extra features like Dual Apps, Direct video calling feature, Always on Display make this UI special.

Performance: 

My Samsung Galaxy M40 managed to do day to day tasks very well like the Galaxy M30. There are No issues and problems with the UI, and there are no heating issues with Galaxy M40.

Ram Management : 

Ram Management is done very well on this Galaxy M40 device. It features 6GB ram, and I did not notice any lags and there are no reloading of apps on this Samsung Galaxy M40. Multitasking experience is nice.

Coming to Gaming, we played Asphalt 9 & PUBG at highest graphics setting without lags & frame drops in the game. The gameplay is excellent on the Device.

Call Quality :

The Call quality on Samsung Galaxy M40 is excellent, and there are no issues with cellular call quality. We have taken long calls in a day, and the other party doesn’t complain. The earpiece is included in the Notch Area.

Camera: 

Coming to the Camera Department, Samsung Galaxy M40 features a Dual Camera setup on the back of the device and a single camera on the front. They work perfectly in Samsung Galaxy M40. let’s divide the cameras and look at the performance of them

1. Main Camera: the 32MP Dual Pixel System main Camera is Awesome and features a Fixed Aperture of F/1.7. The daylight pictures are Excellent and contain very Excellent details. Exposure is in control with Excellent Dynamic range to take good photos in good lighting Conditions. in low light Conditions, the pictures had a good sharpness a detail which is good to see. The Exposure is in control to take good Pictures.

2. Ultra Wide Angle Camera: the 8MP ultra wide angle lens on Samsung Galaxy A70 works does a good job in good lighting conditions. it captures a much wider picture in 123˚ field of view with good details. exposure is control with decent dynamic range. in low lighting conditions, the 8MP camera does not make a mark due to F/2.2 lens and Create more noise in the low light or night conditions.

3. Depth Camera: the 5MP Depth Camera lens on Nokia 7.1 works does an excellent job in good lighting conditions. It gives Good bokeh to the pictures like DSLR Camera. Here You can adjust the Bokeh mode and take Photos As you like. In low lighting conditions, the 5MP Depth camera does not make a mark due to Edge Detection in the low light or night conditions.

Video recording can be done up to 4k@30fps .the video footage has excellent Colours with great sharpness and decent dynamic range. Stabilization is Available 1080p FHD recording and Not Available in 4K 30FPS. The Video is stable in 4K with great colors and sharpness with controlled Exposure and Dynamic range. In 4K the Details are good when compared to Samsung’s standard 12MP Camera. In low light 4K Recording is excellent.

The Video Quality is good and Stable in 1080P with Excellent sharpness. The details are Not Bad to see with With Good Colours and Sharpness. The Details are Good When Compared to Normal 1080P video Recording. In Low Light, the Video is good Equal To Midrange Flagship Devices.

Selfie camera :

Samsung Galaxy M40 features a 16MP selfie camera with large 1.22 μm pixel size and 80˚ field of view. it has a fixed aperture of F/2.0. the Picture quality is fantastic and captures pictures in a Wide view in good lighting conditions it also captures better lowlight images compared to the rear camera. AI beautification mode is available. Photos are well detailed and contain a decent dynamic range.

This single camera can be used to take portraits images from the front with the Help of Artifical Intelligence.

the video Quality is Good as Rear camera. Video Quality is good and Stable in 1080P with Excellent sharpness. The details are Not Bad to see with With Good Colours and Sharpness. The Details are Good When Compared to Normal 1080P video Recording. In Low Light, the Video is good Equal To Midrange Flagship Devices.

Widevine L1 support:

Samsung has Widevine L1 support to stream HD videos from Amazon Prime or NetFlix which is good to see in a budget Samsung Smartphone and which is an advantage in Samsung Galaxy M40.

All Sensors : 

Samsung is providing all sensors like proximity, magnetometer, Fingerprint gyroscope, and Ambient light sensing sensors which is good to see.

Pros:

Cons:

No 4K@60 FPS video Recording

No IP rating and splash proof resistant

Battery Should be Better and Equal to 4500mAH

Who can Get Samsung Galaxy M40:

if you want a PLS TFT screen with FHD+ resolution with Triple camera set up on the rear with plastic Back and Frame on Side from Samsung then you can go With Samsung Galaxy M40. If you want the price to performance smartphones with best in class Hardware without premium feeling then
