  4. OLED ( Organic Light Emitting Diode )
  5. AMOLED ( Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode )

CRT ( Cathode Ray Tube ) Displays

The cathode-ray tube (CRT) is a vacuum tube that contains one or more electron guns and a screen and is used to display images. When the power is passed in This Display The Electron Gun Releases Electrons Which Will Travel And Touch The Screen To Display image.

These Displays Are Used in Older Television Sets.

LCD ( Liquid Crystal Display )

LCD ( Liquid Crystal Display ) Consists Of A Set Of Liquid Crystals On The Top Of Backlight Layer. These Crystal’s Use the BackLight and Emit the Lighting Wether it is  Colourful  (or ) Monochrome. Because of BackLight The LCD Displays Look More Brighter In Direct Sunlight When Compared to Other Displays.

These Displays Are Widely Used In LCD Television Sets, Aircraft Cockpit Displays, Instrument Panels, SmartPhones, Smartwatches, Digital Cameras, Computer Monitors and Caluclators.


These LCD Displays Are Thin And Easy to carry Than Heavy cathode Ray Displays

Consumes Less Power When Compared to CRT Displays. The Power Consumption Depends On the Display brightness And Graphic Content Which is Being Displayed.

Less Flickering Due to the BackLight

It can Be Used In Any Shape And In Any Size

There is No Limit Of resolution In this Display. The resolution Depends On the How Many Liquid Crystals Are Present.


Viewing angles are very bad

Colours Will Not Be Brighter

Fixed Depth. These Can Display 8 million Or 16 million Colours.

Dead Or Struck Crystal’s Will Irritate you In Future

IPS – LCD Display


IPS (in-plane switching) Is A New technology Which Is Developed  for liquid-crystal displays.

This Type Of Display Is designed to solve A limitation of the twisted nematic field effect (TN) In LCD Displays. By this Technology LCD Displays Got Strong Viewing Angles And Hight Quality Colour reproduction. IPS Also involves In arranging and switching the orientation of the liquid crystals between the glass Layers.

These Displays Are Mostly Used In LCD Television Sets, SmartPhones, Smartwatches, Digital Cameras And Computer Monitors.


In IPS display’s Will have Strong And accurate color Reproduction from all viewing angles.

IPS panels show Lighting when they are touched. This is the Most Impotant Factor For touch-screen devices, such as smartphones.


  • IPS Displays Consume  15% more power than LCD Displays.
  • IPS Displays are A Little more Costly Than IPS Displays.
  • IPS Displays Will A have longer response times than LCD Displays.

These OLEd Displays Displays Accurate Bright Colours And Deep Inked Blacks Which We Cannot See in Other Displays.

 The Sun light Visibility Will Be Good And Will Be Not As Bright As LCD Displays.


The Production Cost Of OLED Displays is a lot Cheaper than the LCD Displays.

These OLED Displays Are Very Thin, Lightweight And Roll able By using the Plastic Substrates In The Display.

These OLED Displays Displays Accurate Bright Colors and Deep Inked Blacks

These OLED Displays use less power Than the LCD Displays Because Not Having the Backlight Layer.

The Response Time is 1000 times Lesser than LCD Displays.


OLED Displays Consume More Power Than LCD Displays.

The Life Span Of the OLED Displays Will be Lower than LCD Displays Because of the Organic Materials.

OLED Displays Will Emit More Blue light than the LCD Displays.

If the Displays Will Fell In water It will be More Damaged Than LCD Displays. If IP Rating is there For Your Smartphone Or Tablet Then The OLED Display Will Survive.

The Sun light Visibility Will Be Good And Will Be Not As Bright As LCD Displays.

AMOLED display Is Made By Doing Some Important Changes in OLED Displays. In AMOLED Displays there is a thin-film transistor (TFT) array, which used as a series of switches to control the current flow to each individual pixel.

These Are Mostly Used In Smartphones And Rarely Some Laptops And Tablets.

All the Pros And Cons Of the AMOLED Displays Are Same As OLED Displays.
